Thanks James! I taught at a high school in Grand Junction, Colorado in the 90’s and 2000s, and I had to call the extracurricular club I ran ‘The Diversity Club’ instead of the ‘Gay Straight Alliance’, which was the activist club of that day. The Diversity Club’ is actually a more inclusive name anyway, but…it was my gay students that were trying to be activists then, and there’s always an administrator who’s gonna monkey in the wrench of our purest intentions, right?!
